Dear New Equations Community, The first New Equations School completed its last official session on September 24, and in the month since then there has already been significant learning and expansion. This, of course, will continue, and I want to share what I can about where things are now. More writings will follow, and more information about the 2006 School and the upcoming 2007 School will be posted on the New Equations website soon. Some of the things that were accomplished by the end of the 2006 School: • We learned to create and sustain a soul-to-soul connection with another person on our own. The experience of this is one of staying completely in yourself, in your own body, rather than "going over" to the other person. It is a relaxed, easy, and yet intense, way to be with and receive another person and experience who they truly are, not your idea of who they are. It is a physical practice that begins with aligning your body with your soul, and it can be learned by anyone. • From this place, we demonstrated the ability to learn from what we experience of the other person. This may or may not involve physically pushing on them (which is the way it is done during the soultyping process). Whether or not the interaction is for the purpose of soultyping, this is the way to be with others that truly honors another and allows real change to happen for the good of all. • At the NE School, we were together in a way that honored each person for who they are and for their unique contribution. This is different than the way the world typically works, with hierarchies, predetermined expectations, rewards and punishments, for performing in a particular way. What each person brought to the group may have looked very different from what would be expected in other arenas, and here, we always recognized that what they brought was uniquely valuable and added to the growth of the whole. No one was "better" than another person. No one dropped out, missed a day, or was left behind - a highly unusual event in programs of this intensity and diversity. Each person not only completed the program, but demonstrated the ability to make a soul-to-soul connection and learn from their experience. • We learned to soultype. While the capacity was clearly there at the end of the school session, in that all the necessary learning had been done, we physically demonstrated it just last week at two NE workshops at Delano Regional Medical Center, where several graduates soultyped independently (with Alan and Barbara present, of course) for the first time ever. We will continue to practice this new skill with Alan and Barbara's assistance, live, over internet video, so that we gain the experience and consistency we need. It can be compared to medical school, where graduates go into an internship program before working on their own. It is important to be clear: we did not just get better at doing what we were doing before when we tried to make soul-to-soul connections and soultype. This is something completely new, that has never been done before by New Equations students. We can now do what Alan and Barbara do - we just don't have as much experience! That experience is what we will be very actively accumulating from now on - not just when we actually work with someone to soultype them, but in every interaction we have, every person we see on video, everyone we talk to. Soultyping is only a byproduct of connecting with people in a way that honors who they are and allows new energy to come in so that humanity can move forward. • A set of principles and practices for living and teaching New Equations was created. This was solidified in the graduates so that there is now a solid platform from which NE is being launched into the world. More good news is that because of what was done in the 2006 School program to lay this foundation, all future School students will be starting from a place that is much farther ahead of where the 2006 students started. 2007 students will have energy, materials, and practices that allow them to move more quickly to this new place, and then break new ground from there. The 2007 graduates will be in a far more expanded state of being than the 2006 graduates are right now. There is more to say and more details to share, and this is enough for now. Except for this: One of the things that was acknowledged on many occasions throughout the school year is the presence of all who have been involved in New Equations over the years. What is present now has been built through the participation and energy of all, whether it was a brief association, or years of active engagement. We honored that awareness at the end of the last session, through a Water Ceremony that began at the first NE Summer Retreat. Some of the water from that first ceremony, which holds the essence of all who have come before, was brought out and honored by the 2006 students. We added to it the energy of our love and intentions, and combined it all together again. Just like water, the flow of New Equations is always available and welcomes you to step in from wherever you are, to become one with all that it now is, and to flow together towards what it will continue to become. With love, respect, and gratitude,
